COMIC TITLE: Howard The Duck #1 (2015)
Chip Zdarsky- Writer
Joe Quinones– Artist

One of my favorite Marvel characters as a kid was Howard The Duck and yes because of the 1980’s film that starred Lea Thompson, Jeffrey Jones, Tim Robbins, etc. It is because of that film that I decided to check out his comic books and what we have here is Volume 6 of Howard The Duck and I wrote the volume because Volume 5 was also released in 2015 giving him two number ones in one year. In this issue of Howard The Duck, he is going through some rough times as we see a flashback of a disaster that he was involved in that in three months time culminated to a point where he has decided that he no longer wants to be in our world. So after some advice from Doctor Strange, Howard along with Tara Tam, they go on a journey to Florida, but Tara is clueless to the real purpose of the trip. They are also clueless to what they are about to encounter when they get there. To read what happens next in the issue, then click here to go to Marvel.
There is a funny thing that happens in the comic that really caught my attention and it’s a sequence between Howard and Tara. Howard jokes with Tara about what dimension he is in and he asks her who the president is? She answers with Donald Trump, but then immediately says that she is joking and could you imagine a universe if that was true. I think it’s funny in how they mentioned that and now a year later, the man is actually president of the United States. I love Howard and his sense of humor and just the way he is in the comics and that is thanks to the writing of Chip Zdarsky. This is a good first starting point for the series and they set up a real situation at the end of it that has me hooked. I love the artwork in this comic a little more than the original Howard The Duck, but as always nothing beats the original. There is some coo artwork that features a vision that you’ll see that features some of my favorite Marvel women and I thought that was great. The panels are easy to follow along with so you shouldn’t have a problem with it. Check it out for yourself and give Howard a chance because even he hates Donald Trump. Check out my grades below:
