lord of gore 3One of my favorite comic book series that caught my attention by chance is the horror/slasher comic book known as Lord Of Gore. It’s a series that has been written by D.B. Stanley and illustrated by Daniel Leister and released by Devil’s Due Entertainment. I was worried that there would never be another issue of Lord Of Gore until the company assured me that a fourth issue was coming. So, I thought I would catch up on the reading by checking out Lord Of Gore #3. At this point, we know that someone is murdering people associated with the film dressed as the film’s antagonist the Headsman. Danny managed to escape his death clutches and with the key the Headsman wanted, he discovers a video tape. In this issue, Danny, Derek, and Abby check out the VHS tape which reveals some shocking information that could potentially free a man of all guilt (remember the story the cop told in issue 2). So, the crew decides to do a little investigating of their own by heading down to the studio responsible for the porn parody version The Lord Of Whores. 4309706One thing is for sure and that is I love the cover for this issue which is a take on the classic 1980’s William Lustig horror flick Maniac. Daniel Leister once again does an amazing job on the comic book as far as artwork is concerned. It has the look and feel of a horror flick complete with all the gore that one could want out of their issue. In the first issue I covered, I mentioned how it had a New Nightmare feel to it, but after reading this issue and the one before it, it has a little more of a Scream feel to it. The three of them (Derek, Danny, and Abby) are out investigating the case for themselves and they are stumbling on clues that could identify who the killer really is. This is so well written that every issue leaves you wanting to see what happens next. I just hope that we are able to have more issues so that at least we get to see this all the way through. This is one of those series and companies that are worth supporting because it’s all about supporting the indies too. So, give the comic a shot especially if you are a horror comic fan.
