dominoWe have so much coming up for us comic book fans that it’s not even funny. We have Avengers: Infinity Wars coming out towards the end of April and we have Deadpool 2 coming out in mid-May. So to get us into the spirit of the upcoming releases we have decided to check out some titles to help get our heads into the game. This week,, one of Marvel’s new releases featured a certain Merc that while she may not have a mouth on her, she definitely has some impossible curves. I am of course talking about the one and only Domino who makes her movie debut this May in Deadpool 2. So for today, we are checking out Domino #1 which was written by Gail Simone (Legends Of Red Sonja) and illustrated by David Baldeon (X-Men Legacy: Back To School). Domino is a mercenary who has no control of her powers. You see they activate when she is trouble making her the luckiest mutant around. One day, she gets called to a mission along with Outlaw because people are being attacked on a job site. What she doesn’t realize is that the discovery of this new mutant who was hired to do the job is really going to mess up her birthday plans and probably anything else she does in the future especially when Topaz is on the hunt.

domino 1I really have a feeling that this comic is going to play out sort of like a John Wick story. The comic starts off with her talking to a dog that has the same marking as her on his face. She is a mercenary that is hired to do jobs much like John Wick was and I am just afraid of something happening in future issues to the dog. The story has a lot of action in it and it has a lot of great special guest appearances from characters like Colossus, Deadpool, and so many others that visit her for her birthday. The overall story is just awesome and it leaves you on quite the cliffhanger at the end of it. This is probably one of my new favorite stories out there from Marvel right now. The artwork is also great as Baldeon does a great job bringing these characters to life and I love some of the birthday party scenes. The only thing that I ask is that nothing happens to the poor dog moving forward because he is so darn cute. This is your chance to start getting pumped up for Deadpool 2 and if I can I will have more for you guys before that hits. For now, check out this issue and check out my grades below:
