Batman_Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_II_Vol_1_1Last year, I was able to read what I thought was one of the coolest events that took two things I loved as a kid and mashed them up together. I am talking about the DC Comics/IDW Publishing joint venture Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that was written by James T Tynion IV (Justice League Dark) and illustrated by Freddie Williams II (He-Man/Thundercats) with variant covers done by Kevin Eastman. I thought it was a concept that worked and so did the two companies because by December of 2017, they released part two and they brought back the same team. What we do know about part one is that both Shredder and Ra’s Al Ghul failed and Shredder was imprisoned leaving both Gotham and New York City open for new scum to take over. After failing to defeat some foot soldiers himself, Donatello begins to question his own self worth in the group to the point that when he tries to talk to Batman, he unleashed the lethal Bane on New York City. Now, Donnie and the gang will have to rely on desperate, but well calculated measures to defeat Bane and his army of Banes.

18If you are not a fan of this comic book series then I don’t know what you are doing because I loved every single page. I love the interactions between two hot  heads like Raphael and Damian Wayne a.k.a. Robin or seeing how Leonardo tries to match up with leadership next to Batman or even Splinter with Batman. This comic book is like a late 80’s/early 90’s kids dream come true as we see our heroes battle different villains then they are used to. I definitely 100% believe that the writing for this comic is off the charts because Tynion captured the essence of every single character even Bane. You honestly felt like you were watching Bane do what Bane does best. There is an Holy Crap surprise in one of the issues that I guess I should have seen coming, but it was one hell of a surprise for me. I defiintely am a fan of Freddie Williams II’s work because I loved the He-Man/Thundercats crossover issues that I have gotten to read. He does an awesome job and you should check it out. The action is drawn amazingly and there’s a lot of it in this comic book so brace yourselves. I am definitely waiting for part III and hopefully we get one. Check out my grades below:
