So, it’s the day before a new batch of comic books arrive in your favorite local independent comic book store and I am playing catch up still. One of the those comics is the Archie Horror comic Jughead The Hunger and we have issue five for you guys. In the previous issues of Jughead The Hunger, we find out that right now Jughead is not the only werewolf in the family as it’s revealed that his cousin Bingo also is a werewolf. Meanwhile, Reggie is causing quite the ruckus with his own werewolf crew back in Riverdale. After Betty’s aunt finds out that she has failed, she reminisces on her life and how she got into the game of werewolf hunting. We find out that she was at one time in love with Jughead’s Uncle, but she ultimately had to end his life. She is intent on making sure that Betty in fact does not go soft as well. In this issue, Jughead is confused as to what is going on with his life right now, but all the pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fall into place. Little does he know that Reggie has a master plan to get Jughead to come back to Riverdale and it involves someone he holds near and dear to him. Archie also has some news that he has to break to Betty, but she may not like what he has to say.
Things are continuing along just fine in the Archie universe and after they dropped some drama in the last issue, they bring the thunder with this one. I do have to admit that I feel like this is not going to continue very long almost like it has the feel of a miniseries especially after what we see in this issue. I would love to see this comic continue with more issues, but I could also get them ending it soon. Things are building up for a dramatic showdown and I am super excited. The one thing that I will continue to say about these comics is that if you are a fan of anything Lycan related then you should give this one a chance. They do a good job taking a genre and making something cool out of it and there is plenty of gore to satisfy any one. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again “Do not let the Riverdale thing intimidate you from checking this out because you won’t be sorry.” one of my issues with the last issue is that they didn’t leave you on much of a cliffhanger as they had in previous issues. Don’t worry about that because they definitely did with this one. The story is great, the artwork is great so what more could you ask for. Check out my grades below:
Character Representation: A+
Entertainment Value: A+
