COMIC TITLE: Jughead The Hunger #6 (2018)
Tim and Pat Kennedy and Joe Eisma– Artists
May 30, 2018
In the previous issues of Jughead The Hunger, we find out that right now Jughead is not the only werewolf in the family as it’s revealed that his cousin Bingo also is a werewolf. Meanwhile, Reggie is causing quite the ruckus with his own werewolf crew back in Riverdale. After Betty’s aunt finds out that she has failed, she reminisces on her life and how she got into the game of werewolf hunting. We find out that she was at one time in love with Jughead’s Uncle, but she ultimately had to end his life. She is intent on making sure that Betty in fact does not go soft as well. Jughead is confused as to what is going on with his life right now, but all the pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fall into place. Little does he know that Reggie has a master plan to get Jughead to come back to Riverdale and it involves kidnapping Jellybean. Meanwhile, Archie is about to call it quits despite what Betty may think. In this issue, Jughead knows Reggie has her, so he has to turn to the two most unlikely people to help, but the question is will they?
I have to admit that action wise, this is a pretty good issue that sets up some fun for the next issue. An incentive to keep on reading if you will and it definitely has me hooked to want to see what happens next. One thing that sort of made me feel was cheesy a bit was the interactions you saw with certain characters and it was mostly Reggie’s gang. For one, Moose is so stupid that it just drives you crazy, but the rest of the gang do act like a pack of wolves as you see to the left of this paragraph. I think I am so used to watching Riverdale on the CW that I just expected Archie’s dad to look like Luke Perry and not some fat older guy and I feel that way about certain characters as well. I’m forgetting to suspend that because this is a different premise than the others. I am a huge fan of the Archie Horror comics that come out which is why I continue to check these out because they do not disappoint at all. The suspense just keeps building and they keep throwing cliffhangers at you with every issue so believe me this is one to read if you need a different type of werewolf story. Check it out and check out my grades below:
Character Representation: A+
