One of my all time favorite Marvel superheroes was always the Hulk because I felt like we had a connection in a way. The only thing that we don’t have in common is that I don’t transform into a giant green guy with the strength to destroy whoever in my path, but being vulnerable to rage has always connected us as kindred spirits. While Amadeus Cho is running around Marvel thinking he’s the coolest thing going and while Weapon H tries to figure out his place in the world, the original gangster known as the Bruce Banner Hulk is back and have the issue for you guys today. Marvel released a new comic this week entitled The Immortal Hulk #1 which was written by Al Ewing (You Are Deadpool) and illustrated by Joey Bennett (X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse Dawn). Everyone in the world believed that Bruce Banner was dead, they buried him which in their minds was proof alone that he was gone. In the slightest chance, what if he wasn’t dead? With all the recent sightings of a monster going around, it has people thinking. Tommy Hill is about to make the biggest mistake of his life when he decides to enter a gas station to rob it with Bruce Banner in the building.
All we want Marvel to do is just to come out and say it that Bruce Banner is not dead and because of the Hulk he will never die. I think that is exactly what is happening here, but I am a little fuzzy with how they are approaching this matter. It’s almost like by day he is Bruce Banner, but by night he becomes the Immortal Hulk like he is a werewolf that is afflicted with a curse. I am hoping in future issues that they are going to clarify just what is going on with everyone’s angry green giant. They kind of hit you with a holy crap moment at the beginning of the comic to the point where you’re thinking that you weren’t really ready for that and then the ass whopping begins in the latter parts of the comic. It’s looking to be a really good story where we are going to find out who the demon in the mirror is. The artwork was a very cool point of the comic for me because I love the way they made the Hulk look and the artwork overall was just very good too. Joey Bennett did a really good job with the action scenes above and Paul Mounts did a great job with the colors. Check it out for yourselves and check out my grades below:
