6489052-05aI was excited today for two reasons with one being that it’s NCBD (New Comic Book Day) and two the latest issue of Lord Of Gore came out today. Issue five was once again written by D.B. Stanley and illustrated by Daniel Leister. In the last issue the gang found a tape that showed someone murdering Abby’s aunt which could free the original man to play the Headsman since they believe that he was framed. They head down to Sebastian Toombs house to find out some info, but it gets them nowhere other than the being in some possible hot water after Toombs threatens them. Even though that it went nowhere, they get a lead that could reveal some good info as well from another former Headsman by the name of Reed Daniels. Reed reveals some info about Abby’s aunt, bu they are quickly interrupted by the Headsman. In this issue, they deal with the attack of the Headsman who is dead set in killing Reed Daniels until Danny and Co. stop him from doing it. Meanwhile, Alex Everly is in his office when he gets paid a visit by the Horseman which leads us to finding out just who the Horseman is.

logThe plot continues to thicken with my favorite horror comic that is out there on the shelves right now. Devil’s Due is really doing a great job with their comics to the point that I can not wait to see what they have coming next. I loved the action in this comic and I thought it was a good confrontation between the old and the new headsmen, but I am not so sure about a decision that was made. I am not going to spoil who the reveal was at all as far as who the Headsman is, but I kind of wish that he was kept a secret until the end. It would have been a cool reveal to see in the last issue like what has been done in films like Scream, but I get why they did it. So, I am not taking out any points against them because the story still kicks ass. Now, we have something to look forward to moving ahead. The artwork is pretty kick ass and you have to love the alternate cover that you see to the left of this paragraph. That is the Evil Dead tribute cover. If you haven’t jumped aboard yet, I don’t know what you are waiting for because it features everything a slasher horror fan would want in blood, guts, some sex, and a cool ass killer. Check out my grades below:

Story/Plot: A+

Artwork: A+

Character Representation: A+

Entertainment Value: A+
