For today, we are checking out a Spider-Gwen comic in Spider-Gwen #17 which is the fourth part of the Sitting In A Tree storyline. What do we know up to this point in the comic? We know that Miles Morales’s dad had made a deal with S.H.I.E.L.D. to protect his son’s identity so he agreed to become an agent. We find out from Maria Hill that he went on a mission that wasn’t sanctioned by S.H.I.E.L.D. to recover a device that allows to jump in-between dimensions so Miles travels to Earth-65 which is the home of Spider-Gwen. There she agrees to help poor Miles try to find his dad which leads them to the Scorpion Bar where they discover that the Agents Of S.I.L.K. are behind it and Earth-65’s version of Mile’s dad is The Scorpion who doesn’t appreciate being called dad by some kid in a Spider-Man outfit. In this issue, they travel to Earth-616 which is the home of Miles Morales and they discover that Peter Parker has defeated some Agents Of S.I.L.K., but what are they doing on his Earth and what is Matt Murdock not telling them? What more conspiracies are Gwen and Miles going to stumble on? Can someone please cut the tension in the air and what in the world does Ms. Marvel want?
For those of you trying to follow along, the summary is basically Spider-Man issue 12 through 13, and Spider-Gwen #16 that goes right into this issue. As you all know, I am such a nerd for Spider-Gwen and I am actually really digging this crossover event with Spider-Man. I think it’s a tiny bit weird that a 19 year old Gwen is catching feelings for a 16 year Miles. I mean understand that they understand each other’s plight with the whole super powers stuff, but really? If that is my only real issue with the comic then I think it’s the least of Marvel’s worries if I am being honest with you. The artwork is awesome as usual from Robbi Roodriguez who draws up some great action sequences in this comic and Rico Renzi does amazing with the colors. I am definitely going to finish and see this through only because I want to know what happens and if Miles ever finds his real dad? I would hate to go all this way to never finish the journey because that would be a waste of time. If you love Gwen or Miles then I say definitely give this comic book a shot for sure.
