JUL181370I have to be honest in saying that today was an enjoyable post Labor Day morning because it meant that not only were the kids back in school, but that it was also New Comic Book Day (NCBD). Now, I want to tell you guys that you do not have to adjust your screens whether you’re on your laptop or smart phone because this is not an actual NXT taping, but rather a new comic book from the people who produce the monthly WWE comic book from Boom! Studios. That is right, the new comic from Boom! Studios entitled NXT Takeover: The Blueprint #1 was written by series regular Dennis Hopeless (Spider-Women: Omega) and illustrated by Jake Elphick (WWE WrestleMania Special 2018) and it features stories about some of today’s hottest commodities. The late and great Dusty Rhodes takes you on a journey of sorts as he shows you around the NXT compound as he introduces you to the stars of the future like Seth Rollins, Paige, Bray Wyatt, Jimmy and Jey Uso, and many more in this wild introduction to the greatest brand on the WWE Network.

WWE_NXT_001_Blueprint_PRESS_4-Ring-Usos-1This was actually a very enjoyable comic book to read and even if it’s not really Dusty Rhodes talking to us, it almost felt like it was. Dennis Hopeless has to have been and probably still is a WWE fan because it nailed it right on the head. I mean he nailed his swagger and the way he spoke and presented it to us and it was gold. Now, the only thing I will say is that sometimes they are on point with the artwork and then sometimes it leaves more to be desired if you get what I mean. There were some parts of the comic that I liked a lot, but then there were some panels that I thought were OK. I understand the smaller the picture, the less detail that is able to go in it. I believe that this is a four issue miniseries, but do not quote me on that one because I am not 100% sure if that is correct. All I know is that I’ll be looking forward to checking out the rest of the issues. So stay tuned here for more when we have it and check out my grades below:
