Captain_America_Vol_9_1First of all, I just want to take the time to wish everyone in the United States of America, The US Armed Forces, and any American across the world a very happy and safe fourth of July. I am super excited for the fact that my favorite day of the week happened to lie on my favorite Summer holiday which is the 4TH of July. I am also happy because Marvel decided that they were going to release a brand new Captain America comic for all of us to check out as it happens to be the ninth volume overall. For Captain America #1, Marvel recruited Ta-Nehisi Coates (Black Panther) to write comic while they landed Leinil Francis Yu (Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey) to illustrate the comic. We now live in a world where Hydra had taken over at one time using the face of Captain America to spearhead their cause until the real Captain America showed up to save the day. Filled with guilt that he wasn’t there for everyone before the takeover, Steve feels that he has to play clean up to try and redeem his name. Unfortunately, there is a new enemy on the rise that wants to take over and cause havoc one soul at a time.

Image-102-768x861I remember when Marvel did that angle with Captain America in where he revealed that he was a Hydra Agent all along. The uproar that Marvel faced with that was tremendous and how did they clean it up by saying that wasn’t the real Steve Rogers. So, now here comes the clean up comic to make everyone feel happy again that Captain America is still that good noble American that he always was. I personally thought the previous story line was interesting, but at the same time I am happy with them returning to this as well and I love what Ta-Nehisi is doing with the comic because he is creating conflict not just on the villain front, but on the personal front as well. The artwork is definitely amazing and I love what Leinil brings to the table because I loved the Phoenix Resurrection miniseries that is actually on this challenge. I loved some of the imagery in the beginning of the comic with the souls being taken out of Hydra soldiers bodies, I thought it was riveting stuff. I have definitely fund a comic to add to my sub box at my local comic book store as they have given me a reason to believe in the Cap again.
